Jamia Nooriyya Arabiyya
The message of Islam was reached in Kerala soon after the same was spread in Arabia. According to the facts recorded on wooden slab in Madayi Mosque in North Kerala the message of Islam was reached in Kerala during the 5th year of Hijra.
Apart from other parts of India peoples of Kerala heartily welcomed Islam and therefore Muslim priests and leaders use to visit Kerala from ancient year for preaching and teaching Islam. Sheikh Ibnu Hajarul Haithami, the Usthad of Zainudheen Makhdhoom 2nd, was the author of Fath-hul-Mueen. Zainudheen Makhdoom 2nd was Mudarris of Ponnani Mosque. Students from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia etc.learned under him. This was continued for many years.
Thereafter the importance of Ponnani was gone and the Muslim religious students longing higher studies began to go outside Kerala seeking admission in institutions such as "Velloor Bakhiathussalihath". Major percentage of students could not complete their higher studies due to financial and climate problems.
Leaders of Islam in Kerala and Samastha Kerala Jam-Iyyathul Ulama supervising the religious matters in Kerala thought about starting a Higher Education centre in Kerala. Demised K.V.
